Lost in translation? - Fred Sanders

Frank Brown, in his first book, states the correct name is Fred Sander. He goes on to say, the first description of this variety was in the " Gardener's Chronicle" (London) April 25, 1908.

    The Christian Papers

Does anyone know the date The Christian Papers were produced? I imagine circa mid 1900's. It is interesting knowing all the crotons that were available, at that time. Thank-you Ray & Bob and thank-you Junglegal.

    July 2011 Meeting

Phil: Your garden is beautiful! Thanks for sharing the pictures. Can you please tell me the name of the red spotted croton on the right, in the last shot? I don't think it is Christian's Landscape. I have that but, I also have one with larger leaves and spots that I don't know the name of.

a few small ones to get planted HAPPY 4TH

Crotonologist: I agree with you 100%. A few fellows on this site are making it very obvious that they are diligently monitoring Crotonmania in an effort to connect any of our members with theirs. I can't help but wonder if this is deterring perfectly innocent croton hobbyists from joining us...

Stoplight with a reason to stop and look!

It looks like a Moose; I think it's the Moose Man! Plus, I think he has one of the best croton collections in South Florida.

    Some new crotons

Very, very nice! Toad Tongue looks like it has Thai in it. I have a few seedlings that I'm sure are at least part Thai. Isn't it fun watching seedlings, even thou most don't turn out to be anything special.

Searle Brothers Spring Extravaganza March 4th

I'm very sorry to hear that. It is disgusting to think another croton collector would stoop that low. Another thing, I don't think it is funny when I hear collectors brag about their less than ethical croton cutting stealing.

    WIKI tutorials, suggestion, questions

Absolutely, I think Dr. Brown should be consulted. Hopefully, he has the authority and will give permission to use the photos in his book. I don't think it should hurt the sales. It might even help to sell more, due to the free publicity. By the way, I'm sure everyone appreciates the extra...

    some new crotons

Ricky: I'm almost afraid to ask but, is that a recent picture? If so, is it of the very same plant you bought 5 or 6 yrs. ago? i.e. not a cutting or an airlayer from it?

    In the Pink

Your seedling is just beautiful! How old is it? Another question, on my computer, the color shows a bright orange-red. Is it supposed to be pink or did you name it after the expression? It is so much fun watching seedlings grow, even though most don't turn out to be anything special...
