    new site header issues

Thanks for the information guys - it helps. I think I may have it fixed now - at least most of it. If you could report back again, I would appreciate it. It is now supposed to scroll off the top of the page on smaller screens, and stay as fixed navigation on larger screens. But Scott, I can't...

    new site header issues

Thanks Scott. Your laptop must be small then, or using a low resolution. Do you know your screen size and/or resolution. Do you have a larger monitor available to experiment with? To see if it is different (I'm pretty sure it will be) And - what browser and OS are you using?

    new site header issues

Yes Bren - I just put a request in. You are right, it should scroll out of the way on mobile like it does for the HOME site at www.tropiscape.com Can you check that the HOME site header works OK for you. But Scott seems to have another issue. Is anyone else experiencing a problem on their...

And Scott - when you scroll down, does the header minimize like it does on the HOME site - www.tropiscape.com

    new site header issues

Thanks for the info Scott. But - darn it. Here is what the screen looks like on my laptop. Can you take a screen shot? And do you know what your resolution is. And what browser are you using? Can you try another browser and see if that makes a difference? I'm assuming you are using Windows???

    new site header issues

Hmmmm - this is what the Google Emulator shows that a Galaxy Note should be displaying of the forum reply page. Do you have any visibility or size settings set differently than the defaults? I don't know anything at all about An-droid phones. But thanks for the screen shot - that helps a bunch...

    new site header issues

Thanks - no explanation as to why the iPhone handles it correctly, but yours doesn't. And it may be until after the holiday that I can get it looked at. Question? Is it a problem in both landscape and portrait? And do you know what version of An-droid you are using?

    new site header issues

Bren - please let me know if the problem still exists.

    new site header issues

Yes Bren - we are working on getting the header to look the same as the main site. It is very difficult. I am working with a guy in India, so it is going to take a little time to sort things out. They are about 12 hours different than I am. So, he posted the modifications right after I went to...

    Spider mites

I was in the middle of writing an article for the Tropiscape Blog about spider mites. Some fellow palm Aussies visited here last month and mentioned a beneficial insect (a predatory mite) that they said has pretty much eradicated these devils in their gardens and greenhouses. A quick check...

Thanks for the update. No question these trees want to "get up there." BTW - your P. superbum looks fantastic.

    Variegated Monstera deliciosa/

Let me ask you this - do these get any direct sun at all - even 5 mins. Because I have some of the white one and some of them look like yours. And they all get the same water.

    Anthurium warocqueanum in the"Wild"

Stan, I have often commented that the number one difference between growing things here and in SoCal is the humidity. There are many differences, but I could write a lot about all the pluses that a higher humidity lends to growing most tropical type plants. Of course, as life in general, there...

    Anthurium warocqueanum in the"Wild"

Thanks Marie - coming from you that is a valued compliment. But I can't claim all the credit. The plant is about ten years old. I took an old dead Hapu'u (Hawaiian tree fern) trunk and placed it vertical in the ground and put this little "Warocq" at the base. These particular type of tree fern...

Brahea 'Clara' and the Hayward Palm Garden at Chabot College.

Got you covered Stan. :) Yes, that Brahea is very different. I think I would have to say I prefer the "normal." And I think that is a good guess on the Ivy Palm. Thanks for all the pics.

    Anthurium warocqueanum in the"Wild"

You usually see these guys in pots or baskets in greenhouses. And you can almost remember how awed you were when you first saw one. Now you see them fairly often. But not very often in a natural setting in amongst other foliage. It is truly a remarkable plant. Notice the dollar bill for scale.

    Pinangas -What's not to like?

Pinangas have to be one, if not "the," most colorful genus of palms. Between Pinangas, Calytropcalyx, and Licualas, living in a warmer climate makes palm growing that much more fun. Pinanga aristata One of the forms of Pinanga disticha
