Anna, your work is very much appreciated by all of us. I hope you will continue to provide such a valuable service to croton enthusiasts worldwide. You are absolutely right to ask questions and seek solid evidence before putting a questionable croton into the wiki. That is the proper way, and...

    More questions

I did get some feedback from Bob Alonzo re: the King (of) Siam. He verified that the plant was one that John Bender had, and he (Bender)called it King of Siam. It is slow growing, and very few people have it. He hopes it gets propagated.

    Chief?

I have a somewhat similar croton which has become more pink since it got into the ground. Bob Alonzo saw a photo of it and said he thought it might be in the Chief family. Lamar also has a similar one.

    Mystery Croton

Thanks, Moose. After looking at your photos, there is something in common with both crotons, yet some variance as well, such as the splashes of orange and the somewhat different leaf shape. Hmmm...If you have not already done so, please send your photos to Anna for the Wiki. Thanks

    Mystery Croton

I looked at the photos for Daisy on the Wiki, and there is a slight resemblance to Marie's photo. We need more photos of other people's Daisy, though, both for the Wiki and for comparison to my mystery one. Any volunteers? Moose? I'll do my best to connect with Bob Alonzo, to get his opinion

    Mystery Croton

The rest of the plant was lousy deep, deep purple. Totally bland. Possibly a bad Gloriosa. This is definitely a sport. I think it is unstable, based upon a cutting I rooted some time ago. Only time will tell what it is going to be, if it stabilizes...

    Mystery Croton

The Karen Edge went very flat on me...it lost its color, and growth slowed to a crawl. In a desperate attempt to resurrrect it, at the last gathering I gave it to Judy who graciously agreed to adopt it and take it to the keys (you know how great crotons grown there look). I know it's in the...

Sad news about the Pearl. I hope that the varieties that you do have can eventually make it into wider circulation. If brought to a gathering for auction, I suspect that any of those you do have would create a bidding frenzy of Biblical proportions. Please keep Ana in mind. She deserves a...

I might have seen it years ago at the Renfroes, but certaintly not recently. Glad you have one. When the time comes, please share. I don't know how to classify the Renfroe varieties featured in the calendar. Certaintly scarce and possibly endangered, but hopefully not on the brink of extinction...

    Society Calendars

I think it's very important to include them as part of overall croton history. The Renfroes deserve recognition for creating such amazing hybrids. Unfortunately, some cultivars didn't make it into the mainstream, which is sad to contemplate, but it happens. But, just as the Ivory Bill...
