    mango bombs

Well it's started. They're small this year but some are starting to ripen and the squirrels can't resist. So far no collateral damage.

Post your Trades and Wish Lists here

Allan... I don't want to dash your hopes but Salmon is one of the rarest around. I brought one to the auction last week and it's the first I've had to offer. It's going to be quite a while before any more become available but I will keep you in mind. There are others lined up in front of you...

    Croton Tour today!

Here we are at Bob's garden. An old time croton grower with many large an beautiful crotons. Quite a planting! And a most generous person as several of us , including me, walked out with some very nice plants. I will return the favor some day.

Lions, tiger, and bears? No croton scale, mealy bud, now whitefly.

There's a good article in todays' Miami Herald on the pests and predators on the gumbo limbo. Apparently a couple years ago the croton scale began attacking the tree and a specific lady bug ,Azya orbigera began to bring the croton sccale under control, then the rugose (formerly gumbo limbo...

    Where is the rain ???

Got about 3" Thursday and Friday. A welcome respite from all that watering. And still just been in the lower 80's. South Florida is about the only place from the central US to the east coast that's not 20 or 30 degrees above normal. My place in Arkansas is already in the 80's and the summer...

    saving croton pollen

Croton pollen is really strange. It melts in your hand, not in your mouth. In my experience you almost have to pick the male flowers and briskly walk to the plant you want to pollinate before the pollen disappears. Maybe not that extreme but the pollen seems to absorb moisture in the air and...

Until now that is. Last week I had a plant I wanted to use as a pollinator which was full of pollen and nothing to...

Ron, since when don't you like to debate? I heard rhetoric all day long, or should I say we. It was as if we'd been hit by a whirlwind of ..... Hope you made it home ok since it was getting sooooo late. We did see some nice crotons coming along and it was good company.
