Majesticum vs. Picturatum

Someone was looking for a good way to ID these two. Picturatum has a definite deep dark red mid vein; Majesticum does not. Picturatum leaves are usually under 18" in length; Majesticum are usually over 18" but these can vary due to light and other cultural conditions. See attached pics of both; if it has a deep red mid vein, it's a Picturatum.

OK, just checked the picvs and the red mid vein is easily observable, ergo it's a picturatum.

I'm still confused...can't wait for this thread to develop (fotos from the membership, comments, etc)...I "kinda like long leaves", both cultivars are equally beautiful !!!

thanks for the answer to my question . And for the great pictures !! The parent plant is all magenta red and about 10 ft tall . Ive gotta post some pics when i figure it out better . It had a really wierd sport which i air layered and is really wierd colored . it came out burgandy with red centers Thanks again for the post David

Picturatum has much shorter leaves.

Thanks for the comparison, I'll take all the help I can get when it comes to ID-ing crotons..
